ABA DELIVERS A SEAMLESS RIDE FROM RESIDENCY TO RETIREMENT WITH ABA GO

New portal and mobile app set to launch in January promises physicians a smarter, easier user experience.

Raleigh, N.C. (Dec. 11, 2020) – As anesthesiologists are called to know and do more than ever, the tech that powers their board-certification process and continuous learning must do the same. The American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) today announced it will launch a remastered physician’s portal and mobile application as part of a comprehensive, one-stop user experience called ABA Go.

Together, the new tools will power anesthesiologists’ journey from residency to board certification and will support their lifelong learning as they work to maintain certification while advancing the knowledge and skills needed to deliver exceptional patient care.

Beginning in mid-January, ABA Go will provide ABA diplomates and candidates with a customizable, user-friendly experience that adds value to their practice and profession.

ABA Go features:

  • A personalized dashboard that will help physicians track board certification and continuing certification progress
  • Streamlined QI reporting
  • A mobile app that integrates MOCA Minute® into their physician’s portal account with complete responsiveness from any device
  • Improved navigation that makes it easier than ever to find relevant, useful lifelong learning opportunities
  • Access to a host of tools—new and established—to advance their practice and patient care
  • Updated, modern aesthetics that match the progressive, forward-thinking ethos of the specialty

“The launch of ABA Go is just the beginning,” said ABA Secretary David O. Warner, M.D. “The redesigned portal and new mobile app represent another step toward the ABA’s commitment to make the maintenance of certification meaningful to anesthesiologists and the patients in their care.”

Warner reiterated that ABA Go is about much more than improving technology for the sake of maintaining certification, and in fact, speaks to the Board’s recognition of the need to evolve and elevate the diplomate experience.

That includes delivering on a longtime ask from diplomates to allow for CME credit as part of their MOCA requirements. With the launch of ABA Go, diplomates will be eligible to earn up to 10 CME credits per year for answering MOCA Minute questions in the requisite quarter through a collaboration between the ABA and the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA).

The design and development of ABA Go was guided by a diverse users’ group of practicing anesthesiologists and informed by feedback from multiple MOCA end-of-year surveys. Read more on the formation and development of the MOCA Users’ Group here. Future phases of the project will continue to incorporate advances in technology, adult learning science and physician input.

ABA diplomates and exam candidates will experience ABA Go by logging into their physician’s portal and can download the ABA Go app on Google Play and the App Store.
