Residents
The BASIC Exam
The BASIC Exam focuses on the scientific basis of clinical anesthetic practice: pharmacology, physiology, anatomy, anesthesia equipment and monitoring.
Residents can take this at the end of their CA-1 year.
Physicians
The ADVANCED Exam
The ADVANCED Exam focuses on clinical aspects of anesthetic practice and emphasizes subspecialty-based practice and advanced clinical issues.
Physicians can take this after graduating from residency.
The APPLIED Exam
The APPLIED Exam consists of two parts: the Standard Oral Examination (SOE) and the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE).
Subspecialty Exams
Subspecialty Exams allow ACGME-accredited fellows to demonstrate their expertise in a subspecialty such as critical care medicine, palliative care or pediatric anesthesiology.
Continuing Certification
Continuing certification through participation in MOCA ensures board-certified anesthesiologists are staying up-to-date on best practices in patient care.
