APPLIED EXAM FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Candidates will be able to rank their preferred exam weeks when they complete registration. Once you have received your exam week assignment, you will not be able to change your exam date or time.
If you have a medical or military reason and can provide independent documentation to be approved by APPLIED Exam staff, you may request one exam week change, free of charge, pending availability. To request an exam week change, please email APPLIEDExam@theaba.org.
If you do not have a medical or military reason and cannot provide independent documentation, you will be required to pay the full exam cancellation fee of $1,750. All online payments are nonrefundable.
We offer extra break time for nursing mothers during our exams and comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by accommodating individuals with disabilities who demonstrate the need for an exam modification. You are able to register for and take the APPLIED Exam without a medical license; however, you will need to obtain and report your unexpired, permanent, unconditional and unrestricted medical license in your ABA GO portal by Nov. 15 in order to receive your certificate and be listed as “certified” in our diplomate directory upon initial certification.

Yes, the OSCE will test point-of-care ultrasound in the Application of Ultrasound and Interpretation of Monitors and Echocardiograms stations. You’ll need to prepare for content on the current OSCE Content Outline on our website.
Your exam time starts immediately following registration. Please see the length of each exam below.
*If you are on the flex registration schedule, please allow an additional ~2 hours for a supplemental break time. Your exam schedule will indicate whether you are part of the flex registration group
Coffee and light refreshments will be available at registration. Food and beverages, including coffee, will not be provided at the AIME Center. You are welcome to bring refreshments for your personal use on the condition that they are obtained prior to the start of registration, at which time you will be unable to leave the room. We ask that you plan accordingly as refrigerators will not be available.
Once you begin your exam, you may not leave the examination room for any reason. You are provided scheduled breaks during your exam, during which time you are able to use the restroom and/or visit your locker.

Your medical license must be unexpired, permanent, unconditional and unrestricted. Training licenses will not fulfill this requirement.
Congratulations on completing this next step in your journey to board certification! Your exam results will be available in your ABA GO portal approximately two weeks after your exam, and a full exam report will be available approximately one week later.
Be sure to report your full medical license in your portal by the Nov. 15 deadline in order to be listed as “certified” in our diplomate directory and receive your certificate upon initial certification.
